The Arizona Department of Education recently announced the United States Department of Agriculture's (USDA) Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program (FFVP.) The FFVP provides funding to Arizona schools for the purpose of providing a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables to their students throughout the school day.
The goal of the FFVP is to:
- Create healthier school environments by providing healthier food choices
- Expand the variety of fruits and vegetables children experience
- Increase children's fruit and vegetable consumption
- Make a difference in children's diets to impact their present and future health.
Arizona received approximately $2.23 million from USDA to distribute to Arizona schools and Children First Acadmey of Tempe was awarded $12,651.00. We are so grateful for the extra funding to help keep our students healthy.
