Step 1. Orientation
There are many ways individuals can support the efforts of Children First Academy of Tempe. The volunteer programs play an important role in this support. The first step for individuals who are interested in either general volunteer efforts or specifically, mentoring, is to attend an orientation. The orientation is held at Children First Academy located at 1938 E. Apache Blvd. in Tempe. The orientation takes about 30 minutes and includes a brief tour of the campus. Step 2. Choose to Volunteer or Mentor
Volunteer Program
Volunteers are needed in the classrooms to assist teachers with lessons or read to students. You can also help during lunch or play games with students during recess. Volunteers help with school-sponsored field trips and monthly birthday parties.
Mentor Program
The mentor program requires a minimum of two visits per month for one hour each. Mentors are assigned to students based upon the mentor's skills, the child's preferences and needs. Students get very attached to their mentors so we ask that you consider this commitment seriously. The goal of the Mentor program is to provide positive adult/student interaction while reinforcing the value of educaiton and developing life skills and self-esteem.
